The Prepared Piano of John Cage

An interactive lecture-demonstrations by Dr. Tzenka Dianova, Bulgarian-Canadian concert pianist and award-winning author of John Cage’s Prepared Piano: The Nuts and Nuts.
Dr. Dianova will give a brief history of the instrument, after which she will demonstrate the use of different groups of objects necessary to achieve a safe and effective preparation. She will conclude the lecture with a live performance of John Cage’s fascinating work “Music for Marcel Duchamp”.
Tzenka Dianova lives in Victoria, Canada, where she teaches at the University of Victoria. She has introduced Cage’s prepared piano to different-age groups of pianists, composition- and theory-students, as well as non-musicians on three continents.
